Hitachi Vantara has announced Pentaho v8.2. Great to see it seamlessly integrates structured & unstructured data across the Hitachi Vantara portfolio and the entire ecosystem that our customers have. A few features I like about this release:

  • Unstructured Data
Pentaho is continuously improving its support for unstructured data in Analytics: In my experience organisations do not use unstructured data in Decision Making as well as they can. And a small percentage of unstructured data is used. v8.2 improves on the ability to build Data Pipelines that include structured & unstructured Data Sources. This will allow Data Analysts and Data Scientists to generate better insights that drive business value.

  • Better Hybrid Cloud Data Management
With the plethora of alternatives for Data Lakes, organisations want the best way to spend on Data Management and Data Governance to comply with regulations.

  • The ecosystem is growing and becoming more robust
Pentaho 8.2 offers support for the growing ecosystem of 3rd party technologies that help organisations optimize analytics projects. There is better AMQP support, improved Google cloud security, tighter integration with Python and Open JDK support.

All in all, a robust update. Well done Team Vantara.
